The following construction activities are anticipated for the week of August 27, 2010 to September 3, 2010.
Begin:
- Home Depot’s access from Woodmen Road will close beginning Saturday, August 28 at 7 p.m. and reopening Sunday, August 29 at 10 a.m. The closure is necessary to reconstruct the intersection. Upon completion:
Woodmen Road traffic will shift north between Campus Drive and Hobby Lobby’s entrance to Woodmen Valley Shopping Center scheduled for Sunday August 29th. Traffic will travel on the future westbound Woodmen Road alignment allowing construction to begin for future eastbound Woodmen Road. Asphalt removals, grading, and storm drain installation from Campus Drive to Hobby Lobby entrance to Woodmen Valley Shopping Center will commence.
Ongoing Work:
- bridge construction with forming of abutment diaphragms and the bridge deck. First deck pour scheduled for Thursday, September 2nd
- storm drain inlet, curb/gutter, and sidewalk work near Starbucks and Villages at Woodmen Academy Blvd. entrance
- water line installation near La-Z-Boy
- MSE wall construction for backfill of embankment to the east side of the new bridge
Traffic Changes:
- closure of Woodmen entrance to Home Depot Access Road Saturday, August 28 from 7 p.m. to Sunday, August 29 at 10 a.m. for intersection reconstruction.
- closure of Villages at Woodmen Apartment Homes and Starbucks Academy Blvd. entrance. Access to Villages at Woodmen is from Olga Willson Way and access to Starbucks is from Brookwood Drive.
- the new bus stops on Academy near York Road in front of the old Mission Inn and Conoco Station reopened on Monday August 23rd. Please be aware of increased pedestrian traffic and buses stopping in the area.
- please observe posted speed limit of 30 mph. With traffic counts complete in July over 80% of commuters are above the posted speed limit. With traffic, construction workers, and pedestrians ever present and moving, for everyone’s safety, please slow down.
